Heineken Draught Keg

Heineken has a light taste which makes it a great summer beer. This can also be very refreshing after a days worth of skiing. Though I am more of a dark beer drinker, Heineken is always a good back up beer since most places that sell import beers have it. The Dutch beer is smooth and can be bought as a mini keg. One of my friends ended up giving me this for my birthday and I have been enjoying it ever since. If there is nothing wrong with the keg, I usually enjoy draught beers. You have probably already have been exposed to this beer from the Netherlands but if not it is definitely worth a try.

How it was consumed: in a mug from a draught keg.

Guinness Black Lager

Guiness Black Lager commercials came to the American airways a few months back and peaked my interest. I picked up a 6-pack of this roasted barley beer. It reminds me a more bold Shiner Black. This isn't as tasty as some of Guinness's fine beers but if you like darker beers that won't fill you up as quick as a regular Guinness will, try Guinness Black Lager.

How it was tasted: in a mug. Though I just read the "drink out of the bottle" text. D'uh!

Blue Moon Winter Abbey Ale

I am not the biggest fan of the regular Blue Moon. Any beer that a person has to put fruit in is not a good beer. I am looking at you Corona. Blue Moon Winter Abbey Ale does not need any fruit to make it taste good. It has a sweet malty taste and is smooth. I don't think I would drink this beer year round, even if I had the opportunity, but it is a refreshing seasonal beer.

How it was consumed: Out of the bottle.

Burke and Riley's Irish Ale

Burke and Riley's Irish Pub is a decent place to grab a beer around Breckenridge, CO. My family and I were walking down Main Street and wanted to grab a beer. They had a local brewery but my parents brought our Italian greyhound so we needed to find a place to drink outside.

I ordered a Original Coors hoping that it would taste pretty good straight from the source but it wasn't very pleasing. I can only speculate weather they gave me a Coors light, an soapy glass, or if the keg was older.

I then discovered they had an original beer. Being the  barista of beer I decided to order it.

It was nothing to write home about... but it is something to review. I usually review beers that are delicious. The Flying Sauce and The Ginger Man is not going to sell a crappy beer. They know they will lose money and they know their beer. I don't know why Burke and Riley wouldn't try to make a better beer since it represents them.

Alas I must say it isn't worth your money. It isn't a terrible beer but it is no where near the best.

How it was tasted: From a pint glass and from the tap.

Dillon Dam Brewery: Extra Pale Ale

Like I said before Dillon Dam Brewery is a quality find out  in Colorado.

This attempts to go after great pale ales as Dogfish Head's 60, and 90 Minute. I must say that they do a good job if you compare it to the 60 Minute India Pale Ale.

Of course IPAs have a distinct taste since they are highly hopped. This is not a beer for beginners but is quite enjoyable by fans of IPAs. If you ever get the chance try out any of the Dillon Dam beers you will not be disappointed. I have yet to find one I didn't like, though I didn't get a chance to try them all.

It is a beer truly worth the medal it won at the Great American Beer Festival 2004.

Again here are where you can find the beer.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

I would like to think Mikael Blomkvist would appreciate my blog. The man is a a gentleman and a scholar. The book on the other hand reads, at times, like a snuff film.

Mikael Blomkvist is a man who was defeated and accused of liable for his comments on a well known business man, Hans-Erik Wennerström. Blomkvist was set up and now his reputation and his company were on the line. In a strange turn of events another old business man, Henrik Vanger , contacts him offering Wennerström's head on a platter if he can solve a 40 year old mystery.

The book also follows the troubled Lisbeth Salander. Salander is one of the oddest characters I have ever read. She never developed appropriate social skills and often gets into... bizarre predicaments.

The book is a good read and even though the reader will keep yelling at the characters to just go to the police you will read this book cover to cover.

How it was consumed: Audiobook.
