Dig Pale Ale by New Belgium

New Belgium Brewery are the same people who make one of my cherished amber ales, Fat Tire. This Spring Seasonal is not a very hoppy beer but still has the slight bitterness for a kick.

According to the website Sorachis Ace hops provides a fresh Spring zing with a lemon aroma. Also the Nelson Sauvin hops adds bursts of passion fruit, mango and peach.

I am not a fan of fruity beer unless it is done right. Though I haven't reviewed it yet Real Ale's Devil's Backbone has a slight citrus smack that doesn't ruin the beer.

If I didn't read the online description I would of not known that Dig had any flavoring of passion fruit, mango or peach. If I had to guess a flavor I might of guess the lemon but even that is faint unless you knew it was in there.

So if you have not yet missed your opportunity grab this beer and give it a taste. It is well worth it if you like American Pale Ales. Please don't confuse this with Indian. I know Columbus did but he didn't have Google. You do! IPA's are bitter and American Pale Ales usually are not.

So enjoy without fear.

How it was consumed: From my barrel shaped mug.
