Welcome to 2013. Honeywell RTH221B Basic Programmable Thermostat

Hello everyone!

Thanks for coming back to Taste of Zach. One of my many new years resolutions is to get back into my weekly updates. I have enjoyed so many items since summer time and won't be able to review everything from memory but I am determined to get back into writing again. So to start off let me tell you about some a couple items I have bought off Amazon.

Honeywell RTH221B Basic Programmable Thermostat

I bought this product because of it's high review from Amazon and for it's price. It works fine during the summer time but after my 30 day guarantee AND now that it has gotten cold I have a problem. I programmed the thermostat to be a higher temperature in the morning. It turns out the device never tells my heater to stop running. Now this doesn't happen all the time but when it does I have to go to the circuit breaker to stop my heater from turning my house into an oven. This could be a faulty unit but Honeywell's customer service has been agonizing.

I contacted them at the beginning of November and in the last 3 weeks I have given them proof that I have purchased the item, I have told them I am past my 30 day return window and that I can't return it (that was Honeywell's first suggestion...), and recently they told me that I need to call the Technical Support office. I would be fine with this but they are only open during standard business hours(I think 9-4)... while I am working at a standard business. Also the customer support themselves haven't been helpful and my last email response was just rude.

Customer Service:  "I'm not certain how you expect this to go ... This type of thing generally requires the person seeking the information to invest in the process to some degree or extent... "

I have been trying to fix this problem for weeks. It is hard to ignore a problem when it changes your condo's temperature 30 degrees and wastes electricity.

What is the lesson to take away? Test all programmable settings/times (hot and cold) within 30 days and hope that, even though it worked during your testing (mine works 50% of the time), you do not have a faulty unit. Also Honeywell might as well have no customer service so don't depend on that. Look at alternatives like the Nest thermostat.

Acclimation

Hello everyone,

I am sorry for the hiatus but I have had multiple things get in the way and I have started an amazing new job. I hope to give you a post by next Thursday or before the end of the month. I have so many reviews to write I just need to make the time to write them. Thanks for staying with me!

Vacation, Pre-job duties, West Nile and Apartment hunting

Sorry for the late post. I will be taking a break for a few weeks due to everything that is in the title. I have been sick, preparing for my job, preparing to go on a vacation, and have been spending days on apartment research. I am tired and behind put here are some items to enjoy in the meantime!

Muszac

I have gotten really busy and sick this past week. Here are some more music videos. Sorry about the delay.

I tried for about 30 minutes and I finally hacked around the problem.

The Dead Days of Summer

I haven't had time to review many things this summer since I am going through a very large transition so here is some more art in order to keep my posts weekly. I hope you enjoy.

Jeff, who lives at home

Wow.
This movie is one of my new favorite movies. Easily of 2012 so far. It maybe because it hit me at the right time or maybe it was because the whole project came together so well but Jeff is an artistic comedy that everyone should check out.
This movie follows a broken family cause by the death of a father. Each person seems to be lost in their own way but in the end they find something that makes all of them happy. No not themselves though that is an added bonus.

Jason Segel and Ed Helms do a great job entertaining in this underrated comedy. Check it out.

Ted

This is my first review via my Galaxy S3. This is so exciting. I am currently waiting in line for the new batman movie though this won't be posted for days afterwards.

So I went to see Ted at Denton cinemark for the 3.50 Thursday deal. I knew it would be fairly good but it made me laugh out loud.

This involves a story of what would happen if a child got his wish to bring his teddy bear to life. It would be nice Disney movie for the first month of his life but Ted explores what would happen about 30 years after that.

This is Seth MacFarlane at his best. Family guy is old but little better than your average Simpson's. American dad is still epic but is getting a little long in the tooth. This movie portrays something I already knew, Seth still has it.
I would have been alright paying $7 for this movie but luckily I didnt have to. The early part ending is a bit cheesy but it didn't take away from the movie.
